Education, Programs & Events Committee is the hub of Chapter activities. They have a ton of great ideas for fun events, continuing education opportunities, and other programs that would benefit members, but need some help turning those ideas into reality. Education/Programs- The Montana chapter is working to provide green building education opportunities for our members. We are exploring continuing education credits for LEED-APs and industry professionals. This includes bringing USGBC LEED programs to MT (e.g. green building webinars, LEED study groups), as well as developing local presentations that qualify for continuing education, such as networking events, green building tours, and more.
Events- Help plan the Annual meeting and other member events. This group will maintain the calendar of green events to keep us informed about other green building activities across the state. Check out the green event calendar here.
Your Montana Chapter EPE Committee now offers ERB approved LEED continuing education webinars!
The USGBC Montana Chapter has purchased a subscription to a series of webinars which provide learning units for several professions. All of our webinars provide learning units for LEED professionals in all disciplines. Most webinars carry AIA prior approvals for continuing education credits. The Professional Engineering Board and others such as GRI are accepting continuing education certificates from our programs. The Webinars are offered in a range of classes for specialized areas such as Planning, Schools, Homes, Transportation, and several design disciplines (see full list here). No matter what your interest area is, you can host one or more events which fit your particular field of practice. Each year we subscribe, more Webinars will be made available.
Get involved, host a LEED Continuing Education webinar
As a chapter volunteer: Anyone can coordinate an event. The USGBC chapter will share this resource with any Chapter member interested in volunteering to set up an event - simply select the presentation topic, secure a location and AV equipment (and a date/time), and run the workshop. The volunteer will be responsible for collecting payment and turning in a list of attendees. The EPE committee has set a low cost of $20.00 per LU hour of credit for members and $40.00 per LU hour for non members. Volunteers who run the workshop may do so at no cost (a great way to earn your LEED CE hours). Expenses for travel for the event representative, cost of facility and food/beverage services may be added to the participant costs - please coordinate with your chapter representative.
As Host Organization: Any organization can host an event for a flat fee. Sustainable practices and related training is very much of interest in the retail, materials distribution and construction related fields. This being said anyone who elects to host this type event should have no problem getting participants and improving their credibility within their field of expertise.
If you are interested in conducting a USGBC Webinar training in your community please contact an EPE Committee member for further guidance.
Sincerely,
Jim Tarr
