Green Schools Advocacy - From Montana to D.C.!

Wendy Weaver, Board Member and Green School Chair for the USGBC Montana Chapter just returned from the US Green Building Council Advocacy and Green School Symposium in Washington, DC. Wendy was among green school champions and advocates from across the United States who met in DC to advocate for green building and schools. She met with both Congressman Rehberg and Senator Tester on Capital hill advocating for energy efficiency in buildings and green schools, specifically the US Green Building Council was urging congress to support the following policies:

  1. The PACE Assessment Protection Act (HR 5766/S3642)
  2. Home Star Energy Retrofit Act (HR 5019/S3434)
  3. Green Credit Enhancement Act (HR 5989)
  4. Federal Building Personnel Training Act (HR 5112/S3250) Wendy also attended the launching of the Center for Green Schools, “Working Towards Green Schools for All Children in a Generation” where she met Rick Fedrizzi, President and CEO of USGBC.

Now back home in Bozeman, Wendy brings back the energy and ideas she gained in D.C., raising awareness and support for sustainable communities and green schools in Montana.
